What TDS means

Tax Deducted at Source is referred to as TDS. Certain individuals must deduct taxes when making specific payments, such as salaries, professional fees, rent, commissions, interest, contractor payments, etc., in accordance with the Income Tax Act of 1961.

After that, the deducted tax needs to be reported through TDS Return Filing and deposited with the Income Tax Department.

To put it simply, TDS makes sure that taxes are collected at the actual source of income.
